The new LEDON LED lamp provided proof of its excellent lighting quality during a recent scientific investigation of colour perception. In two experimental set-ups, the LEDON LED lamp achieved a first-place ranking, which meant that its lighting quality was rated superior to that of a commercially available energy-saving lamp, another LED lamp and even a conventional incandescent lamp which, until now, has always been regarded as the light source which provides the most pleasant light. "The results of the study exceeded our expectations. The fact that the LEDON LED lamp's lighting quality was rated even higher than that of the incandescent lamp is a huge success for our development team" says Dr. Stefan Tasch, CEO of Ledon Lighting Jennersdorf. |

During the course of the study, various lighting situations were assessed by 25 individuals including 6 trained expert observers and 19 individuals who had no lighting technology experience. The study focused on assessing colour perception on the basis of criteria such as how natural and lively illuminated objects appeared and which lighting was preferred in general. A 40W incandescent lamp, a 7W energy-saving lamp and another 7W LED lamp were assessed besides the new dimmable 6 W LEDON LED lamp. The four light sources examined had a luminous flux equivalent to a 40 W incandescent lamp. A 28 W halogen lamp was dropped from the study because it failed to achieve the required illuminance. |

The study was performed as follows: In the first experiment, the absolute colour quality of the four light sources was measured when lighting real objects (fruit and vegetables). The LEDON LED lamp achieved its best rating for the "naturalness" criterion. In the second experiment, the three light sources were compared with the incandescent lamp by pairing them. Four standardised images were illuminated in each case and then assessed by the individual observers. In this test, the LEDON LED lamp once again excelled in terms of "naturalness". |

According to Dr Stefan Tasch, "The study confirms that the latest LEDON LED lamps produce a very agreeable, warm, natural light. This is an all-important criterion when it comes to convincing consumers of the merits of these new, energy-efficient LED lamps." |
